Starcodes horoscopes for September 3 – 9, 2010

Happy Labor Day weekend. Labor day is the Virgo holiday, time to celebrate our work by taking a break from it and enjoying summer weather once more before knuckling down to the fall schedule. But the stars also want us to take a moment and think about the nature of our work (or lack of), our security, and our responsibilities to one another as the weekend begins.
The past can feel close as Mercury retrogrades in Virgo under a Cancer Moon. We may need to talk about the division of labor in our home or with our team at work; some old resentment may come up, old patterns and sore spots creep up again. But we don’t have to go about life the way we always have.
We have a real potential to shift, to melt these old knots and soften hostilities based on Neptunian issues, like a difference of philosophies, religion or water damage as Venus and Mars in peace and equality loving Venus trines Neptune. This aspect stirs up a lot of feeling as the week progresses, and may take us deep into our emotional fantasies and longings, but also encourages us to use our longing in a conscious way.
It helps to choose a goal or vision statement to guide our actions. For instance, we might intend that all our social and political actions will be in line with the Bill of Rights, and be honest about it. We can notice any self-imposed isolation, or ask ourselves how we can be more loving, how we can be more kind to others; instead of merely reacting we can use this time of change to shift gears and respond differently and in line with our best intentions.
We could also dive into Libra’s other side (Libra doesn’t care how we do it, just that we engage as equals) and engage in open warfare over old hurts and because we are afraid of forgiveness. Or get lost in our fantasies. But let’s not. If we start to get lost in the past, or see another drifting off in obsession, bring the focus here and now, use the senses to become fully alive in the present moment.
The weekend begins cozy but guarded under an introverted Cancer Moon, a waft of homesickness may urge us to play in familiar territory. We may tend to eat too much comfort food and not have the digestion to keep up. Working on our home can feel good, though if mistakes pile up, it will help to take a break and re-center before proceeding. Don’t bother pointing out someone else’s mistakes, because if they blew it, they’ll probably figure out as much and give themselves a hard time We will all stay more present with forgiveness and humor, learn from our mistakes, and leave less work for others.
Sunday and Monday are generally more relaxed and celebratory, time to hit the arts festivals. Enjoy the flirtatious, cooperative and creative vibes as Venus trines Neptune. Be ready to dive back into work and clean up loses ends as the Moon enters Virgo on Tuesday, clear the decks to re-set goals on Wednesday under the Virgo New Moon. Consider a personal cleaning ritual of closet or gut; our digestive systems can get touchy and need clean food.
We can waste this Virgo New Moon in a critical haze, or lost in a forest of details, but that’s not the point. Now is the time to focus on our healing, and on healing our relationship to our work–the work we came here to do, not just the work we get paid for. We can see the efforts of our life as tools to our evolution, no matter how mundane or uninspired some of it may feel.
Virgo invokes the image of a fall garden; yes we need to pull up the weeds, but must keep our focus on the harvest coming in, decide what seeds we want to eat and what we want to sow for the future. It’s time to bring in our harvest and prepare the fields for next year.
Friday, Sept. 3 Our biggest issues can be tweaked this morning as the Cancer Moon opposes Pluto, squares Uranus and Saturn. People get easily triggered and do not want to be pushed out of their comfort zone. Tough decisions may need to be made around work and security. Hold on and make as few decisions as possible until after next week’s New Moon. Midday the mood softens, but reassurance still helps. Tonight we need safe camaraderie and familiar foods.
Saturday, Sept 4: Slow, cozy morning; keep it creative, heartfelt and don’t worry of the first batch of pancakes flops. It means so much to be appreciated this morning that we can be touchy and not feel anything is quite enough unless we seek out an attitude of gratitude. Let each person find their way and give the gift of acceptance. Don’t push during a cranky, creaky, self-conscious spell around dinner time as the Moon squares Mars. Evening is best kept low key.
Sunday, Sept 5: Break a cycle and do life differently as the Moon trines Jupiter and Uranus and enters Leo. Midday impulsive, irritable reactions and mechanical breakdowns increase as Mercury semi-squares Mars; put the power tools down and get organic. Mood lifts later and calls us out and about. Keep the schedule spontaneous and cell phones handy; schedules only complicate.
Monday, Sept 6: We tend to work at cross purposes on this odd, ambiguous day. Let it be a true labor day, rest from even working upon one another and ourselves. Hit the recent button. Late afternoon and early evening are more festive, but watch alcohol or water related problems later as the Moon opposes Neptune. Stay aware, but feel the spirit calling.
Tuesday, Sept 7: High-strung, effective but easily-worried vibe as we head back to work. Clean up unfinished business, edit organize and prepare the ground. Notice what needs fixing, but don’t buy into worry. Change of feelings midday leaves finances volatile, pay attention for opportunities as the Moon trines Pluto, conjuncts Mercury. Eat cleanly.
Wednesday, Sept 8: The New Moon in Virgo marks a subtle turning point in our work. We can get too diffused when we see how complicated and interconnected everything really is and this can make it hard to start. Self-forgiveness frees up energy; clear short term goals further. Just take a step and move gently.
Thursday, Sept 9:A potential upset or missing piece can throw us this morning, don’t waste time on the could have, should have thoughts. Drop it. We can‘t change the past but can improve the present as the Moon enter Libra, conjuncts Saturn and sets of the big T-square. We may feel lonely or longing for something ineffable, willing to act on faith if we know what that is as Mars trines Neptune.
